Aventura Mall Begins Construction On New Wing Will Become Second Largest Mall In US

Image result for aventura mallConstruction is now underway on an expansion of the Aventura Mall that will make it the second largest mall in the U.S.

Aventura is currently ranked third after King of Prussia mall, which will measure 2.86 million leasable square feet after a new wing is added later this year. Mall Of America is ranked the biggest in the U.S.

Aventura is adding 235,759 square feet, but it isn’t clear how much of that is leasable. A new seven-story garage is also being built.

The mall consistently ranks among the top ten in the U.S. for sales per square foot, despite its enormous size, and it could be at or near the top for gross sales as well. In 2012, the mall generated gross sales of $1.4 billion, according to Moody’s.

Another expansion for the mall is also in the works, planned on the Sears site.  It would include 250,000 square feet of retail, along with hotel and office space.
